About Midway Plants

We enjoy growing plants and propagation, the cultivation of garden flowers and fruits. Dave is happy to answer any questions you may have about how to grow plants purchased from us, and general gardening advice.

As a general guide we stock the following types of plant (seasonally):

Vegetable plants, fruit trees, fruit bushes, herbs, some grasses, Winter / Spring bedding plants (primroses, dianthus, polyanthus, violas, pansies, bellis), Summer bedding plants (fuchsias, geraniums, hanging basket plants, etc.), heathers throughout the year, conifers, azaleas, rhododendrons, shrubs, perennials, large variety of roses, evergreens, ornamental trees, and bulbs in flower such as mini daffodils  (seasonal).

If you cannot find what you are looking for, please let us know and we will do our best to help. Our staff are on hand to answer any questions you may have about any of the plants available.

All bedding plants grown at Midway are hardened off to become acclimatised with the local prevailing conditions, thus ensuring they are not ‘shocked’ when planted out for the first time. We are very careful about how we treat our plants, whether they are on display or behind the scenes in our tunnels. We hope to always offer top quality plants for these reasons.

Many things such as all herb and vegetable plants, some herbaceous perennials and some bedding plants are actually grown from seed here at Midway. Other forms of propagation include from cuttings, grafting, growing from extremely small plugs and plants, by division and sometimes hardwood cuttings. As a traditional nursery we hope to achieve a good healthy growth in all plants before displaying them for sale.
